74 students were conferred degrees at the 19th Convocation ceremony of the Textile Institute of Pakistan, Karachi held at the Main Campus.

Dr. Farrukh Iqbal, Dean and Director Institute of Business Administration (IBA) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Chancellor TIP, Mian Abdul Majeed, the honorable members of the board of governors, and President, Mr. Humayun Zafar were also present on stage.

Prior to presenting the Institute’s annual progress report, Mr. Humayun Zafar welcomed the esteemed guests that included the families of graduates and the TIP Faculty members. He congratulated all the stakeholders on behalf of TIP Management and the Board, on the successful completion of 24th year of TIP. He informed with pleasure that the last year’s targets have been materialized. While talking of completion of some of the projects, he informed the august gathering that the infrastructure of TIP is being enhanced to accommodate the growing number of students, whereas, cloud-based LMS and CMS and student online results system will soon be operational. He stated his satisfaction on the efforts being done on the Institute’s collaboration with the Textile Industry in order to engage our students in their Management Trainee programs, where they would write their final projects and use their research facilities, resulting in a win-win situation for the industry as well as for the institute. The details and achievements of recent study tours to Europe and Turkey where MOUs were signed with the leading Textile Institutes for students/faculty exchange, workshops, training etc were also shared with the audience.

Mr. Humayun appealed to the Patron, sponsors and the textile industry to generously contribute helping TIP to revive the Textile Research Innovation Centre for the mutual benefit. He thankfully acknowledged the valuable support received throughout the year from the donors/sponsors.
While concluding his address, Mr. Humayun thankfully acknowledged the Dean TIP, Dr. Abdul Jabbar and the faculty for supporting him on academic matters; Mr. G.M. Lodhi, Manager Finance and his team for finance related matters, the efforts of the Admissions and Marketing department and highly appreciated the Administration department for making the Convocation event a success.
Dr. Farrukh Iqbal gave a presentation on “Globalization and the Textile Sector”. He explained that the textile sector is now fully globalized and organized in the form of global supply chains as well as the characteristics of the sector within a country is changing rapidly over time depending on trade and technology. He emphasized that the prospects for growth are brighter for well-trained individuals. This is because modern information and communications technology embodied on the Internet allows more flexible ways of integrating with global supply chains.
The Chancellor TIP, Mian Abdul Majeed awarded degrees whereas the Chief Guest, Dr. Farrukh Iqbal awarded medals, to the high achievers in various disciplines.

At the end of the program, Chancellor and President TIP presented a memento to Dr. Farrukh Iqbal.
