It encourages learners to explore their abilities in designing multipurpose and multivariate fabrics. It provides students with the knowledge and skills needed for self-employment and industrial-related employment. With an emphasis on broad-based conceptual and technical aspects of design, the program is expected to facilitate postgraduate studies in specialized textile-related areas such as art history, textile marketing and merchandising, textile technology, industrial design, fashion design, new media design, and textile conservation. It enables for conceptual development and the opening of new vistas, thereby broadening the knowledge base. The fourth and final year is an independent study program that culminates in a degree-project exhibition. Graduating students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in technical, creative, and professional skills acquired during their studies.

VISION:
“Textile Design Technology is a well-rounded program that is committed to providing students with the highest quality technical education, developing their aesthetic capabilities, and gaining industry insights alongside personal development.”

MISSION:
The Textile Design Technology Program aims to provide students with a one-of-a-kind, hands-on educational experience. We hope to instill in students the confidence, skill set, aesthetic insight, and sense needed to succeed in the industry. We believe to ensure that our graduates are well-versed in industry standards in both domestic and international markets, with a strong emphasis on producing high-quality work. The program promotes exploratory learning, risk-taking, independent thinking, and a creative spirit, while also challenging students to think of ways to improve their environment.

• To develop strong linkages between academia, industry, and, the indigenous craft sector.
• To be able to reflect viable aesthetic, pragmatic, and innovative solutions in order to carve out a market niche for themselves.
• To train students to contribute to the community through design solutions, while adapting to their immediate socio-cultural limitations.
• To encourage students to maintain responsible behavior as global citizens, supporting the idea of “GREEN” while they screen through the material and social-cultural notions.

BS in Textile Design Technology explores all possibilities of value addition through various processes and techniques applied to textiles and its products. The aim of this programme is to view the whole process of textiles through an aesthetic perspective. Awareness and appreciation of textiles and crafts traditions is also a significant aspect of this course.

Textiles are the mainstay of our economy and survival is now based on quality not just quantity. Design, therefore, plays a major role. TIP aims to produce designers who are equipped with the necessary technical skills and aesthetic understanding required to function effectively in highly competitive conditions while catering to the local as well as international market needs.
