Rajby Upcycling Competition

Sustainability is the only way forward. Rajby industries organized a one-day competition amongst the fashion institutes across Karachi. TIP students conceptualized the designs and got runners up cash prize. TIP fashion & apparel students are well equipped to address challenges from concept to design realization. The apparel faculty member Mr. Sohail Sarwar, supported by the Head of Department Mr. Gauhar Ajmal, grabbed the opportunity.

PURPOSE BEHIND THIS ACTIVITY:

Up cycling and reusing of products is the need of an hour. Denim apparels have become an inevitable part of today’s fashion. Old and used denims can be creatively up cycled into unimaginable, creative and useful masterpieces. Rajby invited all the creative thinkers to come and join them for a fun activity as they were organizing an Up cycling DIY project exclusively. They provided a great platform for students to collaborate and execute out of the box ideas.

COMPETITION DETAILS:

(Design majors) 5 students from each university (AIFD, TIP, and NTU & Rana Liaquat) were selected. Rajby industries provided DIY supplies to them along with garments and the students needed to execute their creative ideas on them. This activity was conducted on Saturday, 10th April 2021, from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm at Rajby unit 6, main office. Each group was given a theme according to which they need to research and take their inspirations to create unique pieces. At the end of this activity, the students presented their ideas along with final garments to the higher management jury.
