Fund-Raising Event for Edhi Foundation

TIP students from Textile Marketing Management, 2nd year organized a fund-raising event “Qawali Eve”, with the proceeds being donated to the Edhi Foundation. This event was a brainchild of the students as they were assigned a task to execute an event as a ‘Principles of Management’ project. This project had to prove to be a successful implementation of the four major functions of management that are planning, organizing, leading and controlling in the form of an event.
The students, already driven and passionate at heart, thought of this project as an ultimate opportunity to lead a CSR initiative. Having met Mr. Faisal Edhi and undergoing an experience of a lifetime at Edhi Foundation, it was clear that this project had to be a fund-raising event. It was a tremendous jolt to for these students to have confronted the hostility of life at Edhi Foundation, more so after the death of Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi: a name which is an emblem of philanthropy, due to the plummeting levels of donations.

In order to make this event a colossal success, the students set out to collect donations themselves with their first donation drive in the area of Bahadurabad and then managing to cover almost the whole of Karachi namely Malir Cantonment, Askari 4, Defence, Clifton, Boat basin, Korangi, Meena Bazar, Hyderi, Saddar, Gulshan, North Nazimabad and etc. The cause strengthened as other students of TIP volunteered to be a part of it.
Finally, on the 17th of November 2017, the event took place with Mr. Faisal Edhi being the chief guest. The Qawali Eve was all in spirit with the enchanted voice of Irfan Sabri-the qawwal. And as the culmination of the event, Mr. Faisal Edhi was handed Rs. 575,000 as a donation. The management of TIP shall be praised for instilling this emotion of empathy and the desire to devote tirelessly for a noble cause in the students. Such an event, at this magnanimous scale, is the first time ever in the history of TIP but the students have pledged to not let this be the last!
